We have enjoyed a great many privileges here in Jinja. One, in particular, has been the chance to meet Adam Nile Bogle, who was born July 11. He and his mother seem to be doing quite nicely, and his father has recovered as well. He even sleeps through most of the night. Both of his grandmothers are visiting, and he is getting lots of attention!Adam, of course, doesn’t know how blessed he is to have parents like Spencer and Emily . . . and he doesn’t know how special it is to be a part of the community here in Jinja. Thursday was Emily’s birthday, and we had dinner beside the Nile River. We had a beautiful view of some “Class 5” rapids, but Adam didn't pay any attention! I hope for the chance, some day, to ask him what he remembers and what he appreciates about his remarkable beginnings.
Below you can see one of our favorite pictures, a tender portrait of father and son.
We have also had a chance to meet Noah Langford, who was born February 28th. We aren’t sure when we will meet the Manry’s newest addition, but she is certainly making her presence felt (just ask Lori)! The Jinja team is still trying to recover from tragic losses, but it is also enjoying the gifts of new life.
While I’m on the subjects of tragedy and life, I hope you will be praying for Toni Wagers and her husband, Roy. Many of you know them already . . . for those who don’t, Roy was married to Keith’s sister Jan, until she died from cancer in 2002. Toni, now, is struggling with cancer, and her situation is quite difficult. We are thrilled to be in Africa, but we hate to be so far away from Roy and Toni.
