Shreds

Let us introduce you to Shreds. He is a puppy from the Punkie tribe of Beanie Babies, and has been Caroline's constant companion for the last several years. On some occasions, Caroline's parents will ask him to stay at home, but aside from that . . . he is always nearby. There was one frantic moment, quite some time ago, when he was stranded at Chuck E. Cheese, but that was only a momentary exception. If you check the previous blog posting, you can probably find him in Caroline's hand.

Shreds does not look like the picture above, anymore. He is much loved . . . you might say he is "real," in the Velveteen-Rabbit sense of the term. He got some cosmetic surgery (from Aunt Carol) several weeks ago, but he really struggles, these days, to keep himself looking sharp.

Because of his honored position, Shreds has been a well-traveled puppy. Last summer, he visited Corcovado (home of the Christ Statue) in Rio de Janeiro; now, of course, he has seen London, as well. He even has his own passport, though the British customs agent was not playful enough to stamp it.

We do not know what the future holds for Shreds, but we think he knows how to live in the present moment, and to enjoy things as they come.
